Using AI at work in Professional Services
The management report you'd like an AI to draft is built out of a client's books. Before any of that goes near a chat window, two questions need answers, and neither of…
The first proposal an AI drafts for you gets read twice. So does the second. By the fifth you skim it, and that's the one with a promise in it nobody meant to make. Keep…
Someone starts on Monday and the plan for their first two weeks is a folder of documents and whoever happens to be free. Ask an AI for an onboarding program and you get…
There is money about to go out the door. You ask what it thinks of the plan and get a balanced page of upsides and risks, and you spend the money exactly as you were…
The one-on-one is at three. You cannot remember what happened to the blocker they raised last time, or whether you ever did the thing you said you would chase for them.…
You ask for something written in a professional but warm tone. What comes back is professional and warm and could have been written by anyone, which is the problem,…
The deck is done. You have read it twice, it seems fine, and you can no longer tell whether it is. Paste the finished outline and give one instruction: criticize it,…
You have a long document, a folder of notes and twenty minutes to fill tomorrow. You hand it all over and ask for a deck. What comes back is twenty pages, neatly laid…
A master agreement, its schedules, the amendments and the statement of work underneath, all pointing at each other. Every document reads correctly on its own, which is…
You have an AI fill a contract template from your intake notes. What comes back reads complete and professional, and one version carries a payment term nobody on either…
Feedback summaries go out to the whole team twice a week. Everyone reads them. Nothing gets fixed, because a problem addressed to everybody belongs to nobody. Route it…
Tomorrow you have to tell a customer of three years that the feature their team lives in is going away next quarter. You've rehearsed the opening line in your head three…
The renewal call is at ten tomorrow. You're going through the CRM, then your inbox, then the ticket queue, trying to reassemble what went wrong three months ago and…
Four people in the shop and you're the one everybody asks. Which supplier takes a rush job, what to charge when a customer changes the order halfway, when a reprint is…
You're the only one who knows how the upgrade actually goes. Writing it down has been on your list since spring, and asking an AI to produce the document gets you…
An AI draft reads the same all the way through. The sentence with a source behind it and the one it smoothed over sound alike, so you end up checking the whole piece…
The purchase orders and pack lists you send out get acted on. A wrong SKU means a retailer orders the wrong thing, and nobody finds out until the pallet arrives. An AI…
You're the only person on the team who writes queries, so the same few questions reach you every week. How many orders shipped late in July, how many of those customers…
You wrote the spec, which is why you can't see what's missing from it. Development starts, and by Wednesday someone is asking what happens when a discount and a credit…
A renovation runs through two sets of books: yours, and the property manager's, who has already paid some of the same invoices. A stack of 150 invoices lands for…
The monthly financials are out and someone wants commentary by Thursday. An AI can draft it from the export, and the first version will confidently tell you that repairs…
Month end, and a schedule lands on your desk for sign-off. The numbers look plausible. What you can't see is where any of them came from, and your name is the one going…
Somewhere in a shared drive you have forty contracts. Some roll over on their own, some need two months' notice if you want out, and nobody can tell you which one needs…
Your finance system got replaced last year, and people still need to look things up in the old one. The vendor quoted a date for a lookup tool and that date keeps…
You're about to start reaching out, and your first instinct is to buy a list and send the same email to a thousand strangers. You already know how that ends. Start with…
You gave up on sending fifty identical emails a day. Now you send four, and each one costs you half an hour of reading someone's posts before you can write a first line…
A prospect sat through your demo, asked good questions, and then went quiet the moment you sent the proposal. You have no idea whether they read it, skipped to the…
Your cold emails go nowhere. The people you're writing to can have an AI solve a small problem in an afternoon, so a note about saving them time reads as noise. Before…
Ask an AI to recommend a company like yours and read the answer closely. It names three competitors and links to a roundup you've never heard of. Your own site never…
Your team's new internal tool needs a logo by Friday, and nobody is going to approve a design budget for it. An image generator gives you nice concepts, but they're flat…
